Description
The 7th full length cd from Bill Maier contains a whopping 14 previously unreleased songs. It’s All About The Ride is a fitting title as it was quite a journey to get this one finished. Not one, but two “spirit-crushing hard drive crashes” and numerous setbacks along the way that caused this project to remain dormant for a while. While Maier moved on and released two other albums in the interim, he was determined these songs would eventually see the light of day. Five songs co-written with long-time collaborator Janet Goodman including the title track that kick starts this journey. The Ride cd takes us on a musical roadtrip; an impromptu getaway with a special someone to anywhere (title track), a cross-country trip to Cali with the family on (Little Tin Can), a trip to the beach to “slip out of our minds and leave our troubles behind. (Hungover and Sunburned) A couple of metaphorical and spiritual journeys down the road to life in (Cactus) and (Right Now Right Here). We find ourselves starting down the road to new love in (Could Be), and we “keep on rollin down this crazy path” on Just Knowing That You Love Me. And with our buddy Saint Christopher watching our backs we know wherever we go we’re as (Good As Home). Maier sprinkles in some comic relief in a couple of upbeat classic country styled recordings with (Moron) and (One Finger) making sure there’s something for everyone on this . Recorded with a stellar team of Nashville musicians who have played with a who’s who of Nashville artists, from Clint Black, Alabama, Trace Adkins, Wynona, Crystal Gayle, Hal Ketchum, Delbert McClinton, Lee Greenwood and many more.
